How does it Feel?

by James Hata

"So… how does it feel?"

I've been asked this question a lot these past few days. To be honest, it really just feels weird. Yes… weird is probably the best way to describe this feeling. I was finally able to attain the most coveted title of world champion in UFS and simultaneously ended my career as a competitive player on the same day. While it is great to go off on a high note, it still hurts to leave this great competitive environment in which I have made many great (and strange) friends behind. It is similar to the feeling you might get when you finally beat a really hard game, only to realize that there is no more new bosses to face. I really will miss all you guys and the intense tournament environments, but I guess it is time to move on… to the fantastical world of developing.

Yeah… right, I know fully well that developing for a game is still a job and comes with its own difficulties. I also know that my inexperience as a developer might be a concern for many of you guys. Nevertheless, I was able to get Steve and the rest of the great guys at FFG to believe in me, so I hope that you guys will too. I will be using my knowledge of the game to help fix up the current problems that much of the player base (including myself) have had to deal with as well as try to make the gaming environment as exciting as possible for both casual and competitive players alike. However, it is important to note that nothing I do will be done in a vacuum. I will be depending on feedback, primarily from the play testers, to help me see my mistakes and to fix them before they see print.

I firmly believe that I can make UFS a great card game for all of you guys to enjoy and from this point forward, I will be trying my best to do just that. Oh…and as a final note, I am sure most of you guys guessed this already but I WILL become the hardest staff challenge in UFS history. So be prepared for that… bwahahah…
